Prem (1995) is a romantic drama film directed by Satish Kaushik, starring Sanjay Kapoor as Shantanu / Sanjay Verma, Tabu as Lachi / Sonia Jetley, Deepak Tijori as Vikram Malocha, Dalip Tahil as Mr. Malocha, Aruna Irani as Panna, Saeed Jaffrey as R.K. Jetley, Akash Khurana as SP Verma, Beena Banerjee as Sumitra, Raju Kher as Mr. Wilson (British Commanding Officer), Amrish Puri as Vanraja, Navneet Nishan as Babli, Govind Namdeo as Sher Ali, Sunita Dhingra as Rumila Gupta aka Bubly, Chandrakant Gokhale as Old Bangharu Baba, Bob Christo as British Senior Officer, Yusuf Khuram as Tribal Damaru, Anil Saxena as Sudhir.
The story revolves around Sanjay Verma, who starts having hallucinations of a past life as Shantanu. He travels to a small community and meets Sonia Verma, recognizing her as Lachi, the girl from his past life. Convinced that they were lovers in their past life, Sanjay tries to impress this upon Sonia, who is engaged to Vikram Malocha. Despite his efforts, Sonia doesn't remember their past life and is set to marry Vikram.
The film explores themes of reincarnation, love, and destiny as Sanjay tries to win Sonia's heart while dealing with the challenges of their different social backgrounds.
