This song gained popularity in Thailand and other Southeast Asian regions, particularly after its feature in the 2010 Thai movie “Luang Phi Teng 3” (also known as “The Holy Man 3”). 
In 2019, Indonesian folk performer Niken Salindry incorporated the phrase into her performances, showcasing her multilingual singing abilities. The song experienced renewed interest in October 2024 when South Korean pop singer Rose of ‘Blackpink’ released a collaboration titled “APT” with Bruno Mars, leading to the association of the phrase with “Thailand APT.”  
The song’s phonetic resemblance to Tamil phrases, sounding like “Annana Paathiya, Appata Ketiya,” which translates to “Have you seen big brother, Have you asked father,” contributed to its viral spread in Tamil Nadu. This similarity led to its widespread use in Instagram Reels and other social media platforms.

Panelists emphasized the gravity of illegal immigration from Bangladesh into India's northeastern states, citing a past Supreme Court observation likening the scale of infiltration to external aggression. Rami Desai and Smita Mishra highlighted that the demographic, cultural, and security implications—particularly in Assam—have long been ignored. The region's porous forested borders make infiltration hard to control, and over the decades, illegal immigrants have blended into the broader population using forged documents. The recent MHA-led nationwide verification and deportation drive is seen as a much-needed but long-overdue step. Mistry or Mistri in Hindi as well as Nagamese is a term for a master-craftsman, supervisor of manual workers in India, mason or a construction worker & 'Gaana' means song. So Mistry Gaana means "The construction worker's song."
The Govt. Nagaland declared 2017 as the Year of construction workers (YOCW) in collaboration with YouthNet and Zynorique to encourage Naga youths to make career in the field of Construction.
In the recent year while doing project on my music school I spend almost a year assisting and working with the mason, the carpenters, the painters ,the plumbers etc. The amount you pay the bill to the workers every weekends was huge. What I realized was that there's lots of money in this field and one can make a good career option out of it. The workers were mostly non-locals and they work so hard what I don’t understand was that our own locals are hardly venturing in this field. In Naga society every parents wants their children to get hold of govt. job and collared jobs and most of the youths only aim for that as a result, there's excess unemployment problem in our state.
So I came up with this song dedicated to the few handful local craftsman (mistry) and also to encourage young people in our state to opt for such job which some of you may consider odd but remember no job in the world is small or big, it's all about dignity of labour. Everyone need each other for the system to work. The rich man needs a mason to build his house, where as the mason needs the rich man to run his kitchen.
